With the onset of spring, Arizona is home to another exhilarating season of the Cactus League Spring Training. Come join us in the celebration of the annual major-league baseball games and interactive spring training activities.

While the mood appears to be light, the work at hand for the teams is serious and focused. The pressure is turned up for minor league prospects and rookies alike, as scouts and recruiters are on the lookout for promising talent.

During the exhibition games, players review the fundamentals of the sport, and work at improving their individual stats. New prospects are checked out, and a workable roster is pulled together before the regular season goes into full swing. In spite of what is at stake, this all takes place in the relatively relaxed atmosphere that has come to characterize the Cactus League.

As an added treat for loyal fans, the smaller stadiums now allow spectators a closer link with the action on the field, as well as in the dugouts and during practice sessions - which is unheard of the rest of the year. Spectators and avid fans revel in the chance to collect autographs of their favorite players and to hopefully catch a fly ball while soaking up the sun.

Though the Spring Training ritual began back in the late 1800s, this year marks several new beginnings for the Cactus League. For openers, the fifteen American and National League teams that participate in Arizona will now be training solely in the Phoenix metropolitan area. This represents an historic consolidation into ten stadiums within one metropolitan area. The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies are leaving Tucson to share the new $100 million spring training stadium at Talking Stick. This impressive new facility is located within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on the eastern border of Scottsdale.

As people gather from across the nation to participate in spring training fever, Scottsdale comes alive with tons of exhibition games, charity events, cheap tickets, and non-stop parties. This year, following the action will be a bit easier because of the straightforward access to the stadium. It's directly off Loop 101, and close to Scottsdale's upscale resorts, restaurants, clubs and shopping centers. All signs point to this area becoming a very popular gathering place for all, particularly for residents of Scottsdale’s luxury home communities. With the thrilling Spring Training games, we launch into the start of an exciting spring season in Arizona.
